Mmm Rice Dinners!

We have all made some of the boxed flavored box rice as a side dish. Make yours into a delicious meal by adding some fresh ingredients.

There are two great things about these rice meals. 1. You don't need to spice them. So if you do not know what spices go into Jambalaya, don't sweat it! 2. They tend to take about 30-45 minutes to cook (simmering on low heat), so you can put it on the stove and pretty much forget about it. This leaves you with much more time to play! Each box will yield about 4 full bowls of hearty goodness, so you will not be left hungry!

What you need:
1 box of Jambalaya or Red Beans and Rice
1/4-1/2 onion chopped
1 handful of frozen corn
1/2 a package of kielbasa, chopped.
2.5 cups of water
1 tablespoon of oil, butter or margarine

Step 1. Put the water and oil into a sauce pan. Turn the stove on to high. Stir in the rice mix and the kielbasa (smoked sausage works too). Bring to a boil.

Step 2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover and walk away! The rice tend to take approximately 30-45 minutes to cook (check the box).

Step 3. This step is optional. You can either add the veggies after the rice has simmered for 15 minutes, or you can just put them in with the meat and rice in the beginning.

**Tip** If you are a cheese-head, or find the rice dinners just a tad to spicy, add a little cheese to flavor!

Snit's Kielbasa Fix

Ummm OK. Like kielbasa? Like beer? Really who doesn't? This is a super fast and super easy recipe.

Mats:
1 can of sauerkraut- can, bag whatever you wanna grab either one works.
Grab 2 cans of beer (something not too heavy). 1 can is for the recipe, the other for you!
1 package of kielbasa

Step 1. Cut up the kielbasa into pieces (rounds, oblong, hunks...it does not matter).

Step 2. Toss the kielbasa into a pot. Okay, don't really toss them, but do put them in! Add the sauerkraut, and 1 can of beer.

Step 3. Cook on med-low heat for 15-20 minutes. Maybe jump and give it a stir while waiting for the annoying boat to get to you.

Voila! Now you have a super easy, super good meal.
